FAQ's

Do you need a partner?
No need to worry about partners when coming to technique class. Much of technique class focuses on individual skills, and you can always partner-up with someone in class when the instructor is teaching partner work. Partners on Formation Team are assigned by the coach.

Do you need special footwear?
Latin dance shoes are recommended but not required. If you do not have latin shoes, just wear something comfortable.

Do you need prior experience?
Prior experience is recommended as we tend to focus on the more advanced techniques of Latin Ballroom Dancing, rather than teaching basic dance steps. If you are looking for basic dance instruction as well as having a lot of fun, check out our sister club, UBC Dance Club, at www.ubcdanceclub.com.

How competitive is the team?
The competitiveness of the team will vary from year to year as it depends on the idiosyncracies of that particular team as well as the executive. However, the goal of the team is always to learn, improve, and have fun. We do not believe that you have to trade fun for results. Instead, we firmly believe that the two come hand in hand. This year, (2009/2010), we are hoping to travel to San Diego to compete at the Dance by the Shores competition.
